Harbour Shores: sustainable luxury on the northern Gold Coast

The northern Gold Coast is set to become home to the most sustainable masterplanned community in the city’s history.

Developed by Lewis Land, Harbour Shores has earned the prestigious 6 Star Green Star Communities V1.1 rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, achieving a remarkable 84 points and setting a new benchmark for the region.

Launching in mid-2024, the 16-hectare community masterplan promises a vibrant ‘village of villages’—a harmonious blend of waterfront villas, mid-rise residential apartments, and resort-style amenities, all seamlessly integrated with verdant subtropical landscapes and walkable pathways.

The project stands as a testament to a fossil-fuel-free future, boasting comprehensive energy efficiency, sustainability initiatives, and a commitment to community building. Remarkably, over 80% of the construction waste is earmarked for reuse or recycling.

The masterplan dedicates over half of its expanse to open green spaces, landscaping, and communal areas, fostering a sense of unity with nature.

Jorge Chapa, the Chief Impact Officer of the Green Building Council of Australia, describes the Harbour Shores masterplan as “an exemplary model of a future-focused precinct with a profound positive impact on people and the planet.”

Brett Draffen, CEO of Lewis Land says the opportunity to plan such a pivotal site came with great responsibility.

“Harbour Shores is not just a development; it’s a blueprint for the future, where sustainability and community converge to create a living experience unlike any other on the Gold Coast,” he says.

“Securing the 6 Star Green Star Communities rating underscores our dedication to community investment and sustainable outcomes, propelled by top-tier urban planning and philanthropic efforts.

“Upon completion, the community will feature over 2,000 dwellings, communal open spaces, parklands, a waterfront boardwalk, private marina berths, and a suite of resident amenities, including lagoon-style pools, a clubhouse, tennis court, and childcare facilities.”

Located opposite Harbour Town Premium Outlets, Harbour Shores boasts 1.2 kilometres of water frontage, offering direct access to the Gold Coast’s Broadwater and beyond.
